Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation in Power Systems through the Optimal Siting and Sizing of Photovoltaic Sources

The problem of the optimal placement and sizing photovoltaic power plants in electrical systems from high- to medium-voltage levels is addressed this research point view exact mathematical optimization. To represent problem, a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model considering daily demand solar radiation curves was developed. main advantage proposed optimization corresponds usage reactive capabilities electronic converter that interfaces sources with systems, which can work lagging or leading factors. dynamic compensation, ?-coefficient used as function nominal apparent transference rate. General Algebraic Modeling System software BONMIN package computational tool solve model. Two simulation cases composed 14 27 nodes transmission distribution were considered validate model, taking into account possibility installing one four each system. results show energy losses are reduced between 13% 56% generators added direct effects on voltage profile improvement.
